‪Yuval Itescu‬‏

Yuval is currently a post-doc researcher in the ‘Ecological novelty’ group of Dr. Jonathan Jeschke at Freie Universität Berlin and IGB Berlin, funded by a Humboldt Stiftung post-doctoral fellowship. His main research fields are biogeography and evolutionary ecology, and his main study systems are islands and urban habitats. He studies patterns, processes, and mechanisms that shape biodiversity at large scales and am particularly fascinated by how anthropologic diversity and human activities impact biodiversity and its conservation world-wide.

"Cities are microcosms of the evolutionary changes that are occurring on a planetary scale and thus provide a natural laboratory to advance our understanding of eco-evolutionary dynamics in a rapidly urbanizing world."
